Unsung Hero Award For Barton AC
There was some good news this week when Barton AC’s John Lightfoot was awarded the ‘Unsung Hero Award’ by British Weightlifting.
John (pictured right alongside Barton members Frank Blackburn and Malcolm Moncrieff) was given the award in recognition of his help developing the next generation of coaches and hosting competitions designed to give younger lifters greater opportunities to develop their skills.
John is one of the region’s best known and most experienced volunteers, able to offer incredible insight into sport through his knowledge of different disciplines.

The Annual Achievement awards recognise the hard work and excellence on display throughout the weightlifting and para powerlifting community, with the aim to showcase the very best of the sport from the grassroots gyms, all the way to the international arena. Winners in each category are carefully chosen by a BWL selection panel.
